Diesel Car Hire Ireland

Does anyone know of any car hire companies who offer diesel car rentals in Ireland?

Budget have the option of guaranteeing a diesel but its a big Ford Mondeo or similar. Was looking for something more along the lines of a Golf or similar.

Does anyone know if Budget do diesel Golf's? Or an alternative car hire company that do diesel that operates from Dublin airport?

    Thanks

Can I ask why it needs to be diesel?

    Fair enough,

In my own experience, most rental companies here go for petrol powered models in the lower classes - they're cheaper to buy, maintain, and are better able to cope with sporadic driving that generally comes with rentals.... and cost nothing more to run over a short rental period compared to a diesel..

As you say, the large saloons are your best bet..

most cars that enterprise have are Diesel.
Either way, if you make the reservation and then ring (telephone, very old fasioned but it does have its place) you can specify a diesel.
I have to do it the whole time when reserving cars to go abroad as in that case you need to speciy a Renault or other car that isnt attractive to folks in eastern europe (to rob)! Theres a lot of arranging and planning that goes on behind the scenes by hand in a rental company which is why you just have to ring and then they'll sort it for you and hold a diesel rather than petrol (or whatever else you need)

I work at the airport and pretty much all of the Golf/Focus sized rental cars seem to be diesel. I'm sure if you requested a diesel at the counter they would oblige.

Enterprise have rented me out an opel astra 1.3 eco diesel. It's by far the most economical diesel car I have ever driven (Nass-Cork and back on half a tank!) According to the guy that brought the car out, it's extremely popular!
