Corsair ram upgrade?

Hi. I have 8gb of corsair vengeance ram (black) I'm my system. I'm looking to purchase 8 more gigs. Corsair say not to mix sets, but I was just wondering if the same type of ram in red would affect performance? I don't see why it would but I said I'd ask before buying just to be sure. Thanks.
