    Skylab was incredible for its time - the amount of space the astronauts had was huge. Its launch was a near disaster as part of its solar panel array and heat shield ripped off - so the first mission to Skylab was to repair its outer shield to bring temperatures inside the station down to habitable conditions.

    It was the hollowed out inside stage of a Saturn rocket.
