Orton's Strange Booking

what exactly is going on with the booking of Randy Orton recently?

he's not being put anywhere near a title, largely due to still being in the doghouse over his latest wellness violation.
he's not been in any meaningful fueds of recent, a bit player in a short feud with The Shield, and and that ensuing calamity with Sheamus & Show which never even had a payoff.

yet they have no problem with booking him to beat anyone who shows a hint of breaking beyond the midcard: Cesaro, Sandown, Barrett, Rhodes, PTP, etc.

imo they should either push him as a heel or just future endeavour him.

He still gets a great reaction and probably sells a tonne of merch, plus he's in that new 12 Rounds film so WWE probably aren't inclined to turn him heel.Best opportunity for that was Mania when he could've turned on Sheamus.

They probably won't risk putting a World title on him again cos of the wellness stuff, but still want to keep him over by beating mid card lads regularly.

As long as he's kept out of the main event picture I'm happy. Boreton is best as a heel though.

He's a bit like a new episode of The Simpsons. Totally uninspiring, much worse than when at the peak of his powers, and yet for some reason Americans still love it.

his segments rating wise have bombed more than most, as champ he did nothing for the viewership of Smackdown nor did attendances benefit from that period.

I know he pops crowds but apart from that their is little proof any serious drawing power which is depressing when you consider how they have booked and protected over the years.

Not convinced at all he merits such protection and to be fed guys like Wade, Cody and Antonio on such a regular basis.

Whatever about his booking. He is over like rover with the fans. Not sure if the cheers are piped in (smackdown) but you can hear the pops when his music hits.

Probably a case of him done all he can do with a title. What's strange is he hasn't had any real out and out feuds lately (bar mania) which is strange.

Wade and Cody have been booked so badly at this stage that I doubt they'll ever be main eventers anyway.Cesaro should be given a fair shot though.

during his 2008 heel run I thought he was great, he's been dull as ditchwater for a few years now though

remember him teaming up with Cena in a tag match (against Nexus?) years back - Cena announced him as his surprise partner and the crowd went mental, when he got the hot tag it was the biggest pop I had heard from the crowd in years. Pity he couldn't push on from that type of situation - Sandow nailed his character last week.

this...has he been over exposed? would a break benefit him? Too many injuries to take him off tv I guess... :o
