Hi lads, I'm playing Malahide for the first time in a few weeks for a comp have a few questions. What kind of condition is the course like these days? I'm guessing they have chipping/putting greens do they have any kind of range to warm up on? Finally any tips on playing the course it seems quite short? Thanks.

    I'm a member!!
Condition is great I have to say - I rarely play another 'normal' course where the standard is as good or better than Malahide. Greens are top notch, just hope they're not after a sanding or pole forking.
Putting green beside the clubhouse, chipping green and practice range at the far end of the car park. The range isn't the longest, 5/6 iron tops.
Tips on the course, hmmm, are you in a club match against us?? :) Nothing in particular I can think of, will you be playing with someone who knows the course and can tell you where there's trouble etc?
Quite short?, depends what you're used to, but I don't think its particularly short. Of course, how hard the ground is, wind, and what tees you're off will make a difference. I hit a pretty big drive - and yeah, when the ground's dry the par 4's are at longest a 7 iron approach, many of them 9 ironish, but I can't think off many places that are that much different. As a point of reference, I would call Clontarf a short course (do you know it) - Malahide is notably longer than it.

Nah I'm playing in some charity event there in a few weeks just looking for a heads up before I play. I was looking at the scorecard on the website it seemed short but you're right depends on the slopes/wind, unfortunately I've never played Clontarf. I've heard that Malahide is a decent track anyway looking forward to playing it.

If you're playing the red 9, don't hit driver on the first. It's a short hole so no need for it, and you'll be stuck under a tree and totally blocked out if you're not straight

Sorry to bring this thread back up but I'm just going round the houses to see if Malahide are letting members in these days? They seem to have gone through the recession fine. I heard something that you have to be a 5 day member first which is a load of nonsense to me. £2k for annual membership, I suppose part of that is your entrance fee.

They've loads of members but I suppose having 27 holes helps spread the load.
