Hi lads, I bought a pointer dog last December from a man in Westmeath , reason I bought him was the pedigree attached to him , the dog has turned into a good one and was very easily trained as the man promised, but here is my problem, I never got the dogs papers and now after months of contact I'm getting no reply, I've emailed the IKC and they were helpful enough, but any ideas what to do? It's more the principle of the thing!!

Would you not take the time and call to him and find out the reason face to face

not getting papers can be a dose if u pay big money for a dog but if the dog is what u want , and there is no getting them i wouldnt mind as long as u are happy with the dog ,

papers make no difference with a run of the mill working dog unless you are going trialing, i never saw a dog that could read the papers anyway

I've just been exchanging PMs with a fellow poster who is in the same boat!!! I'm perfectly happy with the dog he is 100% im not into trialing just rough shooting but I paid a nice few quid and he told me he was regd and gave me a copy of the pedigree, at least if I wanted to stud him I might get a few quid back if he was registered.

Ya met him at the house and saw the whole litter, was there twice, signed papers to be sent to my address for the new owner on the chip sheet, the dog is even registered on this european database with that crowd in portlaoise, so why he didn't do the rest beats me!! Ah
I might ring up that " big Joe Joyce" lad to go round and sort him out for a few quid!! He is in the same neck of the woods! Ha ha

Having the papers won't make your dog hunt better but you paid for them so you should get them. As you said you might want to stud him down the road so having papers would then be a big plus.
Go and see that lad or call him.
If that doesn't work as Deano said , i would then go to the IKC.
Finally that Garda if nothing else works.

He is a bit of a drive away from me so only for that I'd land in his yard, the IKC know about it now, and I've had a lad contact me here about he got a pup from there aswell. They are excellent shooting dogs so that's why I put up the OP to see if any of the lads on here might know of someone in the same boat as me, they had 11 pups advertised so they must be more lads out there with them.

Ya I'm guilty of that too a few times :-)
By the way lads I'm nearly sorted with the papers, a couple of nicely worded emails seemed to get the mans attention!!! Thanks for all the PM's lads with advice.
