    HI Guys,

Im thinking of getting myself a Carbon Road bike. From the looks of things it seems that the best value is in second hand ones.

Im just wondering if anyone can offer any advise as to what I should look out for so that I dont get ripped off??

I would be more concerned about the safety aspect of a second hand carbon frame than being ripped off. Look out for rough edges and possible hair line cracks. Carbon fiber is not as forgiving as a steel or aluminium frame.

Thanks for the advise. I probably worded my original posting wrongly.I guess what I meant was what should I be looking out for in regard to frame and components to make sure all is good.

I've seen these 2 advertised just curious if anyone is familiar or would recommend one over the other:

Just something that I saw in relation to another sporting piece of equipment related to carbon fibre, anyway, the deal was to bring along a bag of cotton wool balls with you and to rub them along the carbon fibre. If there were issues then the cotton wool would get caught in the damaged carbon fibre and show up where the damage lies.

Just thought that I'd share that in case it might be useful to someone.

Obviously a frame can be fairly large and some times dirty but never the less for about 10 minutes of rubbing over with cotton wool it could help identify a possible issue....
