How to shake a cold

Overnight I seem to have developed a cold. Runny nose, sneezing and dont have much energy. I have a fairly important 5k race tomorrow evening where I'll be realistically aiming for a top 3 place.
I suppose what I'm looking for is suggestions on how to minimize the effects the cold will have on performance. I know there isnt much chance of getting rid altogether in 24 hours but any help would be appreciated!

    All suggestions welcome!

I tend to opt for the manuka honey in peppermint tea when I have something coming on.

You wont get rid of it in a day but will help a little more medium term

When I feel a cold coming on, I reach for the vitamin C, almost always works.

However it could be that you are getting a dose of the dreaded man-flu (unless of course you are a wimmin in which case it could be bird-flu).
If so there is nothing to be done but take to the bed for 3 days.

Sudafed may contain pseudoephedrine which is a banned substance on the WADA prohibited list (Sudafed PE does not contain it).l

I'm currently trying to shake a cold before a race on Sunday.

Have been taking extra vit C and multivit, manuka honey in my lemsip, extra fruit and generous helpings of garlic and chilli on my dinner.

I just found a bottle of nasal decongestant spray in my drawer which has made the rest of my work day so much more bearable.

Here's hoping it goes away quick.

I dosed myself with sudafed, lemsip, boiling water and lemon, fruit and extra sleep. This all helped but I was still shook yesterday, kept dosing myself during the day and ran the race last night. Wasnt a nice experience but I managed to finish 3rd, would probably have got second had I a bit more energy in the last km.
Thanks to all for your suggestions and best of luck to hardcopy, hope you recover in time for your race :)
