Yesterday I was in the garden and I was hit by a hail squall. It only lasted a minute .
Then a few minutes later the same thing happened and stopped as quickly.

Is this to be expected ?

Does every weather event have a front end and a back end just like the hurricanes and storms that are shown on the weather charts?

Would it really only be noticeable when you have gusty conditions leading to vortices in the atmosphere?

They are simply called showers. That's what happens and what is to be expected.
