On the way to work, this morning...the rear derailleur (shimano altus) broke on my hybrid specialised sirrus bike.
i went to the bike shop and they said that i will need a new dropout for the derailleur. They said the derailluer might still be ok but they will need to investigate. The drop should cost 25euro!is that about the going price?
They also said they need to check the buckle on the back wheel which will cost another 18euro.Is that right?
The said they will also have to check the chain etc

Drop out will need to be specific for the frame so €25 (fitted?) doesn't sound too bad - the drop out alone could cost anywhere from €10 - 20. http://www.evanscycles.com/categories/components/derailleur-hangers (prices in sterling)

The wheel alignment looks about the going rate. I would pay €15 at my LBS

Be thankful you can replace the hanger at all. I have a beautiful Klein frame at home with a banjaxed integrated hanger. Threads are ripped out and the hanger is bent, it's part of the frame so there's nothing I can do with it. *Sad Face*

yeah that's what i was worried about that the frame would have been damaged!

Would i be nearly better of replacing the back wheelset for the bike...it probably wouldn't cost much more than getting the bucke fixed.
