Should your home insurance cover replacing windows if they leaking and beyond repair or do they just cover the consequential damage caused by the leak?

no this is maintenance due to wear and tear. Accidental breakage of the glass is covered but no repair due to maintenance or wear and tear

What if they were leaking due to faulty product day one not wear and tear and the company that made them is gone?

Nothing to do with your home insurance. That is an issue between you and the window supplier or their insurer if you know who they are

As mentioned, this is a problem to be dealt with with the supplier, unfortunately it is not the insurers fault they are no longer around. Consider an example of someone buying a car and finding a problem with it such as faulty gearbox but the garage is closed down, the customer cannot claim from their car insurance. No real difference to situation with the windows.
