Can you receive the dole while on an internship?

Having recently graduated I am looking at internships to get myself on the career ladder. I've looked at some positions on FAS and they tend to say stuff like
An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to your current Social Welfare payment

I'm 24 so not sure how much I would be entitled to even at a basic rate (JSA not JSB), but if it is upwards of 150 a week that would be sufficient - however from what I've heard a lot of these things have ridiculous requirements that you have to be on the dole for X months already. Would this be the case here?

At 24, your JSA rate would be €144. If you are living at home, your parents' means will be taken into account. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html

The only internships you can do while on JSA are JobBridge Internships
http://www.jobbridge.ie/ You need to have a Jobseekers claim of three months standing to be eligible. Fifty Euro is added to your payment for the duration of the internship.

I see. What does "increase for qualified adult" mean? Does it mean qualified as in degree or that you meet certain qualifying factors e.g. dependents?

Does that mean if I am claiming the dole I'm not allowed to even find my own internship (not offered by FAS)?

So I have to sit on my arse for three months instead of being proactive about my life and doing my best to find gainful employment? Furthermore wasters who have been on the dole for years with no intention of doing anything are being given opportunities ahead of me?

This country truly is a joke.
