Which of the job websites are leading the way at the moment?

I know there is a thread listing Irish Job Sites but that's all it is, a list. My experience of job websites is horrible, they are never moderated properly and are just spammed with what are essentially fake jobs (work from home scams etc) listed under every county in the country for location.

Are there any in particular that are useful?

    Thanks

The days of Monster and IrishJobs etc... are long gone, I think LinkedIn is where it's at these days. Obviously it takes a bit of work to get your details up and presented properly and depending what industry you're in the results may vary.

I'm in the IT industry and I know there's demand there at the moment but I found that once I had my profile set up correctly, joined a few programming groups, connected with some recruiters that I was being offered jobs fairly regularly.

That isn't true. Most companies do not want to trawl through LinkedIn looking for people who have skills listed in their profile. (Some companies do what to do this of course, but most don't).

If it is difficult to get HR people to use job websites instead of paying thousands to a recruiter to do the work for them, you can be sure those same HR people aren't going to spend hours on LinkedIn.

I am not saying LinkedIn isn't useful or shouldn't be used; I am saying it has not replaced traditional job websites.

Depends at what level your looking for a job at.

I have to disagree... When I look at the jobs section in Linkedin there's only a handful of jobs and they are usually ones that I would not have a shout at because of lack of experience.

I think Irishjobs is the better website. I see better jobs on this website that are not mentioned on the other websites (jobs.ie, recruitireland).

Also, when ever I search by keywords on jobs.ie and to a to a lesser extent recruitireland, it brings up jobs that are nothing to do with the keyword. e.g. search accountancy and next thing there is a load of bar staff, hotel staff, construction jobs coming up and makes it more time consuming to trawl through the different pages.

LinkedIn is great for being head hunted on. But how many people out there are lucky enough to be that sought after?

For me I like browsing irishjobs.ie and monster.ie.

From a recruitment perspective IrishJob.ie is the busiest one by far.

Here is a tip if you are out of work and seeking a new role just change your LinkedIn status to "available for opportunities" or "seeking employment" you will then find that HR Managers and Recruiters will come to you directly.

HR professionals search these Linkedin terms each day to see who may be looking for work with skills that may relate to their respective openings.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your search

Whilst I agree with spam jobs on the free jobs boards (which I wont name) but most jobs on Irishjobs.ie, Monster.ie and jobs.ie (I am not affiliated to these sites btw) are genuine authentic roles.

As always you will hear of the odd cowboy trying to bolster his cv pool with less than authentic roles. If you want my opinion (I am MD of a recruitment firm) Irishjobs.ie is the best of them.

Linkedin , in my experience thus far, is mostly used for recruiters head hunting for specific roles. If your lucky enough to be in an area where theres demand, you will be getting asked to consider applying for roles every few days by recruiters.
