Decided to have a look at upgrading my driver and get something new .
So went to have alook at the new t m RBZ driver only to be knocked for 6 with price €329 euro price tag .how on earth can somebody pay this for a club.
This is extortion .reason because I looked last year around February ad the price was €239 so why is it so expensive .are people paying well over 300€ for new drivers..?

A lot of golfers have more money than they need, and happily part with it chasing a dream that it will improve their golf. Club manufacturers exploit and do well out of this foible. Hence also why 'new' prices drop at an astonishing rate even though the club has in no way lost its functionality or been superceeded by improved versions.

Never, buy something second hand or last years model.

+1 to this, there has been no new significant technological improvements in drivers in the last 7/8 years, just massive marketing campaigns.

It's not that long ago new drivers cost closer to €500, so from that point of view they are relatively cheap.

If you want a decent driver for a bargain, buy a 2nd hand Ping G2 or G5 for about €70, then again if you want the latest bling bling driver you can spend the silly money on a club you only hit 14 times a round at most.

Fairly new to the game so the prices of the top end clubs came as a bit of a surprise as I looked around online and in the local store.

If a golfer has a full bag of top end clubs, you'd nearly need them insured.
Very risky leaving something like that in your boot as I'm sure plenty do on occasion.

I think it's more hassle than it's worth. Mine cost around E400 mixing and matching and I'm weary enough with mine as it is :D.

Imagine having one single driver worth that

Laws of economics will dictate that if folk are willing to pay for it then that will determine the price.
Try the R11S, I got one last month for €160 brand new in McGuirks on a 20% off weekend, I let other folk buy new at launch prices.

McGuirks are selling off the Titleist 910D2 Range to make way for this years model.

Picked one up last year and couldn't be happier.

Really though, have a look for demo days so you can go and try out equipement first. McGuirks have a range in Kinsealy where you can try equipment and even get fitted. While I don't agree with the "never buy new " ( that's actually silly) I would strongly recommend trying and getting fitted. In most cases it's free when you buy the club and makes the difference.

I got fitted for my 910 and am regularly hitting my drives around 280-290yrds. Makes a world of difference.

Not too sure where you are looking but RBZ 2 is currently going for €239 in Mcguirks and Halpenny Golf.
If no body bought new product we'd still be using Hickory Shafts and gutty percha balls.......but as addressed by a post the pricess settle down after initial launch and find the true market value.
Last years RBZ is still around for about €195 too.

Any idea if this offer will be run again?

I just got an email from them, 20% selected clubs, the R11 isn't on the list and I checked their online store and it isn't listed so it looks like that last sale got rid of the final few.
Worth a call to them in case I've got that wrong.

They have this now though, could see you with it :DPINC0602_M.jpg

Sorry Charlie, I'm just on their email distribution list so only find out as and when the offers are on.

They will do a deal instore as well. Just walk in and ask for their best price. Better still take a few printouts from the internet of competitors prices to help focus their minds. Got a good discount pre-xmas on a driver for my Mrs. Searched online and got a feel for the going rate and got about 20% off that again instore with the added bonus of not having to wait for delivery.

ha, could you imagine it!! I found it hard enough hit the R11 but imagine a pink driver?!!

I see mcguirks have a diablo octane down to €119 now but am not going to get up before the 19th.

nevada bobs are very expensive, but the one in castlebar elvery's will price match with mcguirks!

i play with a guy who bought the new callaway x-hot irons from there and they were advertised at 849, he said he could get them in mcguirks for 600 and they matched the price!

Also i read an article recently, when TM brought out the R500, one of the first 'hot face' drivers they claimed an extra 15 yards or so, and have continued to claim extra yardages on each new driver, so the difference between the r500 and r1 was something like a 100 yards! a load of bull :D

    im using a cobra S3, bought for 120 yoyo's 2011 model.

its all about the swing not the driver!

You dont need to be on tour to hit the ball far. You just need swing speed.

Great price on D2. Great driver not as long as some others. Equipment is unreal these days.
