My folks have these boxes and the FTA UK channels are not coming through except for broken up children's programs on BBC4.

Is anyone else having these problems?

    No, all working fine.

Id guess that either your dish is out of alignment or there's some very heavy rain in your area....

Cork City. It was quite blustery earlier but pretty clear now.

BBC4 seems to be coming through fine but no other sat channel.

ITVHD is now in fine but UTV is still gone!
    Channel 5 fine.
    5 USA fine.

Does that rule out the dish being off focus?

    All gone again. Weird.

Nothing weird about it, I would think. Dish could have moved or water getting in where it shouldn't.

Maybe it's an old installation or was just poorly done to begin with?

Been there for a good few years and was originally installed to get SKY. The reception has been seamless since they hooked back into the sat dish with these combo boxes many months ago.

You mentioned water. Do you mean it might have gotten in to the LNB?

Not necessarily right inside the lnb, but could have corroded the connections, or got into the cables.

BBC4, ITVHD, and Channel 5 seem to be coming in intermittently.

Does that rule out the dish being out of focus?

Not necessarily. Those channels are on Astra 1N and 2F, the newest satellites up there, so they'd be among the strongest signals.

Just did a factory reset and scanned the Astra 2A sat and all the channels came in?

I'm having the same problem - all the FTA channels are gone. In clare where it has been poor weatherwise of late too.
Both Astra 1 and 2 are showing as weak signals, i'm guessing that the satelite was moved by the wind, or maybe the connection fell out of the socket up there. Don't fancy climbing up there in this weather though:P

Called back over and got the ladder out this evening. The LNB holder was banjaxed so the LNB and was after rotating away from where it should be. Badly corroded arm from dish too.

I bodged it in place with duct tape (channels all working fine) and will order an new arm and clamp thing and replace the corroded/broken stuff.

Crikey, it would be some wind if it moved the satellite:D:D:D. I presume its the Dish you are referring to? Check all connections, the skew of the LNB and then re-tune. Only go at the dish, if all the others check out, and only if its safe to do so. If its too high up, get a professional.

Update: The folks lost their signal tonight again. So I call out and up the ladder, LNB is in the same position as yesterday. I tapped it with the screwdriver handle and signal comes back.

Looks like it's a faulty LNB.

    Just replace the dish.

They come with the quad lnb and fixings etc and are €20 on adverts.ie.

You wont even have to use the included mount as you can use your existing mount and just replace the dish and lnb part.

same thing happened to my parents sky dish a few years ago,was even falling down but it was because 1st day the dish was put up onto the chimney and smoke over the years was corroding the dish,so keep an eye where ye place dish.

    Hi Tony

Yes it would seem that people are buying them on mass and selling them and still making a profit.

China without a doubt. For some time too. Not "genuine" despite the claims, but what is "genuine" these days ?

Hi STB, I disagree, something else is going on here, you will notice the guy is also selling WF65 at below normal cost price. Bargain prices though :)

Sorry for the off topic posts.
