given the way of the world today what do ye find good for relaxing and bringing a smile back on the face? I have always found herding the cattle strangely relaxing expect when its lashing rain. I try to take out the dogs for a walk just to clear my head.

Used to play a lot of football and hurling when I was younger and really enjoyed it but when you get into your mid 30's the body starts telling you your not 21 any more. Always found playing far more fun the watching.

was watching more4 last night and they had the episode of father ted with the king of the sheep, woke the missus I was laughing so much. Went to bed laughing away to myself.

I usually go kayaking or fishing if the evening is fine for a few hours and I have the time.

Running!!! I'm fairly heavily involved with my local athletics club and do abit of coaching etc also, but even just heading out for a 30min jog etc in the evening is great to clear the head. I do alot of races also, great to have goals in terms of times to beat, races to win etc! Age certainly isn't an excuse either ha, plenty of members of the local club in their 40s/50s/60s!

Farmers using rowing machines and going to the gym, what next wearing makeup?

Using a good old fashioned axe to split logs would more like it.

Same lad probably has €5k worth of ride on lawn mower to cut a few sq meters of lawn. Spends 50% of the time turning it and the remainder topping daisies!

Then pays gym membership to put up a bit of a sweat.

Running and football. Oh, and being the kids pony!

OH brought me to the movie Pilgrim Hill last week. If you need to get away from farming do NOT go to see it.
