Im travelling soon with Aer Lingus with two 23 month olds (God help me), have booked tickets online but cant book our seats online as we are travelling with infants. Just wondering should I not check in online the day before and just wait and check in at airport seeing as they have to allocate our seats on the day anyway? Also do they charge for check in or is that just Ryanair? Thanks

There's no point in checking in online (and you probably can't anyway) if you have to wait until you get to the airport to get seat allocation.

Without the kids, you can do an online check-in and reserve seats beginning 30 hours before the flight for free. Earlier than that you can still do it but there is a charge.

When travelling with infants on Aer Lingus you can't check in online, you'll have to go to the check-in desk.

They have a family check in desk.

If you live near the airport you can go to the airport and check in the evening before and you can get your boarding cards and select your seats then.

A family check in desk? Wow never saw that before, is it easy to find? And actually would be great to drop over and check in the night before, how do I do this?

Details about evening before check in, if your flights is departing between 06.00 and 08.00 then you can check in between 16.00 and 20.00 the night before. I would leave it until after 18.00 to go as very few flights after 18.00.

I am almost cetrain that they have/had a family check in desk but can't find info on website. They are on facebook and twitter so you could ask them about it.

Thanks for that, pity our flight is an afternoon flight but good to know for future. Will keep an eye out for the family desk.

I have also just discovered that you can't do online checkin when travelling with an infant. Very frustrating since good seat selection is even more important when travelling with a baby.

I thought you got bumped to the front row anyway?

Any EI flight I've been on had babies in the front row.
