Just happened to stumble across this on Amazon and thought it was worth a mention.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gordon-Ramsays-Ultimate-Cookery-Course/dp/1444756699/ref=zg_bs_books_4

Very good reviews for it. Would make a nice gift.

    £25
    £5 with Super Saver Delivery

taken from one of the reviews:
It's a lovely big book, 320 pages to be exact, and it is full of beautifully photographed food and the odd shot of Gordon, good if that sort of thing rocks your gravy boat!

The book starts with an introduction to the basics of a kitchen and has some useful information on how to get the best out of Knifes, Pans, a Blowtorch, Digital Scales, Food Processors, Free-Standing or Stick Blenders, Ice Cream Makers, Mandolines, Microplane Zesters, a Pestle and Mortar, a Potato Ricer, Probe Thermometers, Sieves, Vegetable Peelers and Whisks; there is even a well written descripton of how best to cut an onion.

We then move on to the recipes, 123 to be exact, and they are split into themed chapters:

    1. Classics with a twist - 13 recipes

    2. Fish - 12 recipes

    3. Meat - 12 recipes

    4. Spices - 14 recipes

    5. Good Food for Less - 15 recipes

    6. Cooking in Advance - 12 recipes

    7. Cooking for Crowds - 13 recipes

    8. Baking - 13 recipes

    9. Basic Skills - 9 recipes

We must have the same book club, we have it at the same price this month!

This was £16 last week on Amazon as I checked it when I saw it on the bookclub list.

Good spot. Although I'm not getting the option for free super saver delivery to Ireland. And delivery is apparently 5 pounds.

You have to spend more than £25 to get the free delivery.

I think you need to spend £25 in total to avail of the free shipping to Ireland.

If not use Parcel Motel like tatranska which will cost €3.50. Provided there is a motel within reasonable distance of course.

    I'm registering at the moment.
Do I get first delivery free or did you have a promotion code?
I think I figured it out. Free delivery to Antrim and then €3.50 for Parcel Motel delivery I believe

First two are free I think. When I registered I automatically had a balance of €7, and I think it's 3.50 per deliver, or per day, or however they work that out.

I rang parcel motel about it.
If you choose the address in NI and make sure to put your PM ID number in the address twice, you should have no problems.

I paid full whack for it and was very happy with it at that. It's a very good book by itself but if you watch the episodes on 4OD (free!) too you get even more from it.

Mad Cooking Skillz for £4.99? BARGAIN! :pac:

Met him in Dublin a few years ago in a hotel bar, he was being rude to a young waitress over something entirely out of her control. She was quite flustered and upset and he laughed directly at her when he insulted her job and the hotel.

    So yep, he's a prick.

Anyway, way off topic. My apologies.

Thank you Charlie, had to be said, completely agree. The book is a great bargain, but I wouldn't buy anything connected with Ramsey.

Thanks, just bought two as presents.

Would just like to say to Charlie that that's an admirable conscientious objection and, by no stretch of the imagination, a sound and accurate one. However, it cannot be denied that he's an excellent and practical cook -and teacher. If we were to ignore all flawed teachers then the world would be in a sorry situation.

I'm not trying to convince you you're wrong or to to buy it. Just saying that maybe this could be a lemonade from lemons sort of affair!

This is back at £5 on Amazon.

Not really a fan of his but it gets good reviews and you can't go wrong for a fiver so I added it to an order I was making.

I just tried to order this, I entered my Parcel Motel address as "My name. PM*****. Parcel Motel. 1a McKinney Road. Newtownabbey. Antrim. BT36 4PE. Amazon then suggested a different address " Name. Nightline. Parcel Motel. 1a McKinney Road. Newtownabbey. Antrim. BT36 4PE. I did not click to use this suggested address but at the checkout the book was £5 and postage added of £4.5 aprox. Total of over £9. Do Amazon not deliver to NI free? Should I have used the Amazon address? but this did not show my account number!

You have to spend a certain amount to avail of the free shipping. It's £25 to Ireland and I think £10 to a UK address. I'm very much open to correction on those figures though.

EDIT: Actually it seems books don't have a minimum spend threshold to the UK. You might have to manually select Super Saver Delivery

It is £25 for free delivery to Ireland.

I got Rick Stein's India, both Hairy Dieters books, this Ramsey one and a kids book for €38. The Rick Stein book alone is €33 in Hodges & Figgis.

I ordered two books last night and used my PM address. The total was £10/€12.10, they gave me free delivery as the books are going to a UK address. I do have to pay €3.50 to PM so the grand total for two books = €15.60.
