    Hi all,
I could really do with some advise. My partner and I have a one bedroom apartment which is over a restaurant and restaurant kicthen to be precise. There is a significant noise coming from the extractor fan into our apartment. The noise is off a very tonal nature and is causing us a lot of distress and travels throughout the apartment. We have acoustic engineer reports that show that levels of noise are outside permitted levels. The restaurant is now using a dough maker which is also causing a significant nuisance.

We have been told that the matter can only be addressed from the Restaurant side. Our question is, can you soundproof between our apartment and restaurant i.e. from restaurant side? Is this an easy job and what type of price range would you be looking at to address this problem.

We have a child who is terminally ill and my partner is on carers leave. This situation is causing a lot of stress to an already stressful situation.

Sorry to hear about your kid.

Is the sound coming from you floor or through the walls and windows?

If its an extractor fan on the outside causing noise then you might be able to get a type of sound insulating panell to deflect sound away from your apartment, either way its going to cost and maybe planning permission if its on the outside wall.
