Hi lads. Just wondering about my entitlements for maternity benefit. I don't think I have any but I said I'd ask. I completed a contract in may 2012 and commenced my maternity benefit. Had my baby that July. I fell pregnant again, during my leave, in October 2012 and am due this July. I looked for work but no joy. Maybe cause I'm pregnant but who knows. At present I'm on job seekers benefit and I am about to be switched to allowance. I've read that maternity benefit goes by 2 tax years previous. I was working consistently at this time. Have I any entitlements to maternity benefit? Or even an increase on allowance?

As far as I remember u have to be working regardless of the tax years, I had my son last July & wasn't working yet I was in 2010 & got nothing, however when u have ur new baby bring birth cert to social welfare office & u should get an increase for that child, also when u register the birth it's quicker 2nd time round getting the money. Congrats btw ;)
