Our Friends in the North - RTÉ show on Ulster-Scots culture

Featuring comedian and writer Kevin McAleer, Our Friends in the North is a four-part series on Ulster-Scots culture, including their language, music and dance.

I have only watched one episode myself (episode two, in fact) but am lining parts three and four to watch this evening. Alas, episode one is no longer available on RTÉ player.

In the episode I watched, McAleer visited the village of Drum in Co. Monaghan, where he spoke to local woman Angela Graham, who said the following.

"We feel like a community that got left on the wrong side [of the border]. It was a big issue for our grandparents who would have lost their Britishness at that time, but for the generations that followed, we had to get real. We were first part of the Free State and then the Irish Republic. The Irish language was there to be learned it. I learned it. My children learn it. It's just part and parcel of what we have to do. What we do pride ourselves on being is good citizens of the Irish Republic and we endeavour to do that."

    Has any else seen it?
