iPhone keeps switching itself off when not plugged in

    Sounds like you may need to replace the battery. Have you closed all running Apps to ensure that nothing is using the memory?

    What iPhone is it? have you tried a hard rest?
    Hold home and power until the apple logo appears then let go.

    Cheers for the replies guys appreciate the help.

    I've tried everything at this stage. It will only stay powered on when plugged in or when i don't touch it when it's unplugged.

    It will stay on when unplugged but as soon as i press a button it switches off.

    I don't really know what's going on. It's a 3GS and only started happening after the new iOS 6 update strangely....
