    I found an add
    Brand new apple MacBook in the box not opened.
    Very good price,
    Now the seller says ists a gift so no receipt and don't want to give serial to double check.
    My guess stolen from shop
    It's never opened, never used, if it's to turn out a stolen, can the trace it. Lock it? Take it away.

    Now, he doesn't won't give me the serial number cos afraid I could report it stolen, but offers copy of personal ID if I decide to buy

    Lock it, trace it? No, not if it's never been used.

    Take it away? Potentially, yes.

    Look at the seller's history. If you don't trust them, don't buy it.
