Dissolving the sugar daddy sollution

I read recently in the Cork News that college students are now turning to so called sugar daddies in order to make ends meet. Few would doubt that going to college is now very expensive especially if you have to live away from the family home. That said, resorting to a sugar daddy could end up being a mistake some students may live with for the rest of their lives. Indeed it could cost them their lives if this stranger turns out to be a violent reprobate.

Then there is the matter of self respect. How would this decision affect the way you see yourself. Would a student who goes down that road be happy to tell their parents and wider family/relatives/neighbors that they have chosen this method of financing themselves? How would this decision affect your relationship with a future life partner? There are also the derogatory and unflattering terms which are used to describe those who sell their bodies for money - you may never be called any of these names by others but you may feel guilt or disgust when you hear them uttered, especially if you privately believe these words describe you.

Having said all that, I do absolutely recognize the financial pressures that students are under and therefore I would like to suggest and alternative plan which will assist many thousands of college students make ends meet. How about lobbying the students union to organize a flash mob invasion of the nearest ghost estate to the college. Once assembled, the students could simply move into their new accommodation rent free. Well, ok it isn`t really free because the government intends to make you pay for it for the rest of your lives so why not help yourselves to it. You are paying for it, you are entitled to it, its yours. If the students union don`t want to get involved, any individual student can organize the flash mob themselves.

Finally let me say this lest anyone doubt their right to take ownership of these ghost estates, consider this; Many people around the country are living in big houses with big mortgages which they are defaulting on. The government intends to introduce a debt forgiveness scheme for these people so students will end up paying other peoples mortgages from the time the graduate until the day they retire. If defaulters get to keep the houses they are living in then students are equally entitled to take ownership of unoccupied NAMA housing estates. All the students will have to pay for is private buses to do the college run every morning and evening.

And who would pay for the finish on the houses, connection to electricity, furniture, inspections to make sure the houses are actually up to building codes, etc.

That could run into €000's, before you add on "organising a bus."

You are not "entitled" to anything.

Being part of a collective is always cheaper than going it alone.

As a believer in stoical philosophy, I am also opposed to the culture of entitlement. However, we live in extraordinary times. Bailouts of countries, banks and individuals have become the norm. One way of enlightening our politicians is by showing them the consequences of their stupidity. A flash mob invasion of a ghost estate by students would in some small way achieve this ambition. Eventually our country will have to face the depression the government averted with borrowed money. When that day comes, ghost estate invasions will be an inevitable consequence.

Two things that you should probably take note of OP:

    1. Trespassing is a criminal offence in Ireland; and

    2. As per the Boards Terms of Use that you agreed to when you signed up:
You agree, through use of this service, NOT to use boards.ie to:

    * post Material that promotes or encourages illegal activity facilitate or encourage any violation of these Terms of Use

Post any more of this crap and I will be sitebanning you for good.
