Tablet recommendation

Hey all, A friend of mine is looking to get a tablet to substitute his broken laptop. he's looking for something that he cant watch movies on etc. Also he wants to know if he can download files and transfer them to his apple tv device. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
