Injured abroad?

If someone was injured abroad - say at a public event, or a festival and they sustained long term injuries - along the lines of limited movement of a limb, serious scarring, a badly broken limb that required surgery, or something along those lines, would they have any recourse with the organisers / management?

In short, is it possible to make a claim for a personal injury which happened abroad or what would be the procedure?

It can be possible to bring a personal injuries action in Ireland for events that happen abroad i.e. if on a package holiday (and all other elements of negligence are established). Depending on the laws of the country concerning suing the insurance company directly, it may also be possible here but this is a relatively new development.

You should talk to a Solicitor and they will tell you all this as well as the possibility of pursuing this through the courts of the country the incident occurred in. They may be able to refer the case to colleagues in that country and should be able to advise on whether there is precedence for enough compensation to make litigation worthwhile
