    HI all..

Currently I have a provisional licence, its out of date so at the moment. I want to do my drivers test in the next month.

The way this is looking is, I have to renew my provisional to do the test, which cost 35euro, then If i pass my test this month another 55 for the full licence.

    A total of 90 euro ??

Surely there has to be something here that I can do to avoid this ???

    Thanks

And you'll also have to wait about a month before the permit is issued, never mind your licence...

    Sorry what ?

You apply for driving permit (which used to be called provisional licence), and it takes usually over a month before you get it.
You can not take your driving test before you have it.

Also you forgot to include cost of driving test in your calculations.

I was talking to a few people today who said they only waited about 10 days and it came (Galway).

Yeah I know the story with the cost of the test, but I'm saying I have to pay for two drivers licence within a month or 2 whichever ?

I waited less than 7 days in Galway, but it was last year.
This year printing of licences was taken over by RSA, and it takes more than a month anyway, if you are unlucky it might be 2 months.

Driving is costly. Treat is a very cheap introduction to driving anyway.

Waiting times depend on your local motor tax office.
    Thread on it here:
