Suggest a laptop for college work?

    Posting this for my girlfriend.

She has a Packard Bell (4gb RAM, Dual Core processor, Win7, 320gb HDD) but it has packed up. The power button is on the hinge of the laptop and the power lead inside has worn away. She's gone to get it fixed twice but the PC repair specialist said that it was inevitable it would break again.

We were looking at another Packard Bell in the city today but if that doesn't go ahead, she'd love other options. She doesn't care what make it is either, as long as it has a numpad on the side and no hotkeys on the left like some HPs.

She would nearly prefer buying it in a store, preferably in Cork.

    Thanks guys. Here's the details:

Budget: 400-500 max. 500 would be my last option, but preferably 450 and under.

Intended use: College work, youtube, facebook. Usual home use. Needs a HDMI port as I will be watching & streaming movies online and offline.

Mobility: I like bringing it around the place so under 17" would be best.

Warranty: A warranty is important but I wouldn't like to be sending it to the UK or anything for repair (eg. a laptop bought online)

What Operating System do you use? Windows 7 is what I am used to.

Thank you :) Are Fujitsu any good?

Also, would a second generation i3 be much worse than a third gen? As long as it's fast she says.
