Two Pilots - Different Meals

I heard a rurmor that the pilot and co-pilot at some airlines don't eat the same inflight meal in case they both get food poisoning. Do the Irish airlines operate this policy - maybe Aer Lingus on their transatlantic flights?

Standard Airline SOP through out the world even among the CC in the off chance of one crew member taking ill.

    Guesses CC means Cabin Crew.

Was about to google SOP, but can't be arsed now.

Surely if someone asks a basic question relating to the airline industry it would follow theat they may not understand the abbreviations and jargon associated with it.

Even out of courtesy it is respectful not to use jargon to reply to a question unless the questioner used it too. This is true in any walk of life, Not just in aviation.

SOP is a fairly standard acronym in the real world and not just in aviation.

Standard operating procedure. I don't think anyone would consider it jargon.

Sorry about the airline jingo normally if someone posted in just say AH then I would use language that they understand,Because this is the Aviation forum I presumed that most people who visit here would know abbreviations used within the industry.
As for other walks of life or forums if you read the likes of PPRUNE(Airline forum) the lads use a lot of abbreviations like AT(Auto Throttle) MLG(Main Landing Gear) etc,SOP as another poster has mentioned that it is used within other industries like the medical profession.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P. :)

I think this forum should have a list of abbreviations if they're not there already.

They should be listed ASAP ;)

You couldn't be arsed looking up SOP. Fine, but don't have a go at another poster who uses a widely-used acronym like SOP. Your ignorance is not an excuse to have a go at someone else.

It would be nice to assume that anyone coming on to this forum would have a certain level of interest in all things aviation. So the use of acronyms is pretty normal. 99% of members here know whats what.

We dont need a sticky to explain them. Go away and google them if you dont know what we are talking about.

Meh, most of the abbreviations used on boards are bogus anyway and just down to laziness. SOP is a common abbreviation, although the word standard is redundant in the post your referred to i.e. "standard Standard Operating Procedure".

At least ISO codes for things like airlines and airports can be googled, but some of the abbreviations you see on here are on par with txtspk.

Guys it doesnt cost anything to be nice. If someone new to the forums dont understand something please explain it to them.

We all got an interest that is the same just newer members may not know what we are discussing so please lets be nice.

Treat people as if they were new.

Sorry Andy for all the offence caused. I hope there wasn't too much distress!

Just to be even more pedantic: an acronym has to make a word. Thus, while SOP can be regarded as an acronym, CC cannot.

Well my only connection with the aviation industry is that I am a passenger occasionally but in my own, non aviation related industry, SOP is widely used and, tbh, its a well known and widely accepted non-aviation specific abbreviation. Seeing as the original 'offending' comment states something like the pilots and CC have different meals, it could be none other than cabin crew, seeing as even the Cattle Class get to bring their own sangwiches at least!
