Getting a new STB off Sky

    Hi,
    My parents are with Sky since 2005. Have a SD Sky+ box.
    Both the box and the remote are now on the way out. Box reboots frequently and many of the remote buttons are not working.

    We've tried ringing Sky and asking for a new box but they keep pushing us through so many hoops, doing software updates, resetting the box, none of which help.
    Is there an easy way to get a free updated STB off of them?
    I appreciate that you own your equipment with Sky but at the same rate you need to have their equipment to watch your subscribed channels.

    Perhaps as a slight complication there no longer is a phone line in the house.

    Not sure but there are lots of more modern boxes on sale on adverts on boards.

    Threaten to cancel your subscription with Sky as a result of the issues you're experiencing.
