Have a look around various shops and other players to determine the style you like. Pick out a few you like then bring someone who knows a little about them to review your choices. Give you the pros and cons of each. There are so many available now and in most cases the quality is reasonable at a lower price range (compared with years ago). I like Yamaha to begin with. They play well out of box.
But there are many equally good guitars to start with. Many will need to be set up to make them easier to play.

looking at the budget end you DEFINITELY need a pal to go with you and play.

there are some gems at that end of the market, but some real dogs too.

as a beginner, you're less likely to tell the good from the bad.

I've played a Jay Turser at that sort of price and it was the best guitar in the store.

    In Galway city

    Powell's have a reasonable selection
Modern music - not a great selection of acoustics
Kieran Maloney is also an option definitely

In Loughrea "Music World" has a good selection .

adverts.ie is a great place to look for value in used instruments

The Yamaha that Argos sell is an ok guitar for a beginner, but is a bit more than you were looking to pay. If you check adverts.ie or similar for the same make you might find someone who bought one and then decided it was more work to learn than they were expecting.

Just checked Amazon.co.uk and found better price.

You will struggle to find something half decent at that price. I think you should be looking at second hand. If you could go to €150 you would find a much better beginners guitar. Something with a solid top. I think donedeal has some great bargains if you know what your looking for.

This might be ok. Give you an idea of what to look for.

I'd negotiate the price on that to about €80.
