cannot call 08444 uk number

    Hi all,
    I was able to call a uk number last week, 08444, but today it is telling me the number is invalid?? I've tried it from vodafone and 3 network. and i've tried 0044 and +44 prefix, The number is working from the uk.

    Had same problem myself for mobile it should work from a land line though.

    You will need to get a geographic number from that company/person in UK
    The 0844 number is a non-geo number for use within the UK
    Similar to our own 0800/0850/0890 numbers which are for use within Ireland
    This is to do with the pricing structure of these numbers whereby revenue is shared by the provider and the company.

    Just like the 1800/1890/1850 I think you mean. There are no zeros. Xantia is correct, its shared profits. Like 1850's the caller pays part of the call and the rest is paid by the recipient.

    I just tried an 0044 number and got the not in service message from an O2 mobile. Its up to individual providers whether to terminate to these numbers. They must allow access obviously to emergency services.
