That doesn't sound right. What version of Windows did the laptop originally come with (look for a COA sticker on the bottom) and did you purchase any upgrades yourself? Did anyone else restore the OS for you at any stage i.e. repair shop or a friend maybe?

it has a microsoft sticker with a key number on the bottom but no visible name! not sure which one it came with it! the only upgrade was microsoft office word 2010 when i purchased it, it was recently in knowhow for loose usb ports and faulty power port on laptop, but when came back was working fine! as for which microsoft it had i think it was professional not 100% sure tho, its a little blurry this one and not as crisp screen quality and zoomed in a little bit more
thanks for the reply not sure does this help cheers!

Download this http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/20816-The-Ultimate-PID-Checker set it to windows 7, and put the number from your sticker into it (you need to be online). You will then see what windows version you have.

It doesn't sound as though you've noticed any missing functionality. Is there a feature you are no longer able to access? I had 7 Ultimate myself, and never used a damn thing offered by Pro or Ultimate.
