I want to withdraw cash from an Australian ATM
    What are charges for:
    a) withdrawing from VISA Debit
    b) a Visa Credit card that has a positive balance.

Would I be charged at BOI exchange rates or Australian bank rates?
Does BOI charge a fee or do I just get charged the Australian bank ATM fee?

Can I withdraw from any Australian ATM or just certain banks?
    Thanks,
    SAEAG

    Visa Debit ATM Transaction

-You will be charged cross border handling fees (3.5% of transaction value, minimum €3.17, maximum €11.43)

-A margin on the exchange rate given (BOIs)

-Possibly a fee from the Australian bank for using their ATM

Just so you know it is cheaper to use your Visa Debit for Point of Sales transactions rather than withdrawing cash at an ATM.

Visa Credit Card withdrawal at ATM

-If account is in credit there is no cash withdrawal fee. (If account isn’t in credit, it’s 1.5%)

-A margin on the exchange rate given (BOIs)

-Possibly a fee from the Australian bank for using their ATM

You should be able to withdraw at any ATM which accepts Visa. I imagine this is all ATMs.

    Hi saeag,

The charges for using a Visa Debit card abroad is:
    -  a cross border handling fee of 3.5% of the transaction value with a minimum charge of €3.17 and a maximum charge of €11.43 per transaction.
    - the currency exchange rate of the day will also apply
    - finally a normal transaction charge of

The charge for using a Visa Credit Card abroad is:
    - a cross border handling fee of 1.75% applies on all transactions regardless of whether your credit card account is in credit or not.
    - the currency exchange rate of the day will also apply
    -  a cash withdrawal fee of €2.54 or 1.5% whichever is greater, applies unless your credit card account is in credit when the transaction hits the account or has a zero balance after the transaction is completed.

I hope this answers your question.

I would also like to thank lexa and sugarman for helping with the answer.

    Thank you
