Using holidays as part of notice

    Hi,

My employer's require 1 month's notice. I have 24 holiday days per year and have 20 left for this year.

I'm thinking about pursuing other options at the end of August. At at that time since I haven't worked the full year my holidays would be 8/12 (2/3) of 24 = 16.

That means I will have 14 days holidays left. Can I use these days in my notice period, i.e. work 1 week and use 3 weeks holidays?

Any info on this would be great.

It's entirely up to what you agree with your employer when you hand in your notice.

They can either pay you for untaken leave, or allow you to use them to reduce your notice period.

So they can insist that I work for the entire month? I don't have a choice?

Correction; you have 24 days per year. So far, we are not even half way through the year, so you've only worked up maybe 10 days. You work up X hours/days off when you work Y amount of hours/days, so I doubt they'll let you use holidays that you haven't worked up.

Yeah, my bad. I'd still check the contract, as how days are appointed compared to hours worked can be done oddly.
