I use garlic powder in mine, I get east end brand in the asian shops pretty cheap. I also have used the jars & tubes of paste. The raw garlic can be a bit too strong/harsh for some people. If its too strong you can just dilute with more mayo. I usually have a mix of salad cream & mayo, chipper stuff is usually more liquidy like salad cream. Or just add vinegar to mayo if you have no salad cream.

I also mix in franks hot sauce for a chilli & garlic sauce.

I nearly do the same but I use roasted garlic( doesn't take long in the oven) gives a lovely flavour.

I've been looking for chipper style garlic sauce for a long time and finally found it today in a shop on Church Road, East Wall. They had a whole range, including Taco Sauce and about 5 others. Just had the garlic sauce there with some wedges and it's exactly what I hoped for. €3 for a 500ml bottle.

My breath might be quite off-putting for the next few weeks.

I'd say they taste pretty similar. I'm going to email the Irish company tomorrow and see do they have a list of stockists. The shop didn't look like they always sell them and I'd imagine the chipper up the road wouldn't be too happy with them considering they charge about 1.50 for a small tub.
