Travel expenses for medical exam

Hi All,

Is it normal practice for claimant's travel expenses to be paid prior to attending the defendant's medical examination?

The distance to their preferred expert is quite substantial,when there are ample medical professionals in my locality.

Are travel expenses usually paid before examination, in order to cover the cost of travel, or are they normally added as expenses when costs are discussed after settlement?

In all I've seen, after. You should ask your solicitor though.

It's good practice as a Plaintiff solicitor to request travelling expenses and sustenance expenses for ones client to be paid prior to the defendant's medical appt and in my experience they do get paid in good time.

OP talk to your solicitor about it, request the defendant as a pre-condition to you attending that your travel expenses are paid prior to the appt.
