Dublin Bus - monthly ticket confiscated

I currently have a Dublin Bus monthly ticket. My younger sister used the ticket (unbeknownst to me!) a few days this week while I was away. She got asked for ID one day and my ticket was confiscated!

I'm going to go into Dublin Bus HQ to try and get it returned but just wondering if anyone has advice in dealing with these types of situations with Dublin Bus.
Is it likely they will return my ticket or will they claim that it was my responsibility to make sure nobody else apart from me was using it?

    Any advice appreciated!

Have you got Dublin Bus student ID?

Yeah I have the Dublin Bus ID Card. I'm going to bring it into them but I know their policy on transferring tickets etc so just looking for advice on how to approach them in this instance

I'd say if you have the correct ID you may get away with it. But it is really up the person on the desk at the time. They are entitled to not return it to you.

Monthly bus tickets do not have any personal identification on them.

So assuming your sister just said "she didn't have id", as opposed to "I just borrowed someone elses ticket", then I imagine you just walk into Dublin Bus, present your ID and say the inspector took it off you and you want it back now. They'll be none the wiser.

Unless the inspector has a way of looking up the name of the card owner when they're on the bus, they won't know if the card is registered to a male or female.

yep ask her for the €100 standard fare, bring it with you to dublin bus HQ and the do honest thing. your sister gets caught fare evading by using your ticket and all your concerned about is getting it back.T.B.H. i dont think it's as simple as bring in i.d.
inspector: sorry mam i'll have to take you ticket but you can get it back when you produce i.d.by the way you name is .....any females name.
now Koptain Liverpool goes into D.B. hq with his photo i.d.
sorry but they'll have every right to refuse your ticket back. transport companies are loosing money through fraud like what your sisters committed.

but just so theres no confusion about monthly tickets.

Ah Stevek101...you sure know all the angles......start with the hard questions .....;)

I think I'll sit this one out...just for safety :)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I thought if they were student tickets, that the seller is supposed to write the student card number of the buyer on the ticket...to prevent this exact thing.

OP: Tell your sister to replace your bus ticket tomorrow, how she does it is her business. She shouldn't steal from you.

    This.

Actions need consequences. By fixing this one yourself, you are simply enabling her criminal actions.
