Air tight test results

    Hi,

Just curious as to what people would consider as a good result for a preliminary air-tightness test (got it done this week) ?
In my case, no internal plastering done (and block work 'pointing' of plaster had a good few gaps) plus windows are sash (i know, i know .... but it was a non-negotiable for the boss! .... and a few need a few snags to be sorted out) plus at least 1 if not 2 pipes that weren't 100% sealed. Finished floor is in though

Result was 3.7 ..... i was hoping for 3 or less on the first test and pushing for around 2 or less on the final results. How does that compare with other peoples results experiences ? Should i typically expect to improve by say a full point on final test ?

    Cheers.

Depends. I would suggest that 3.7 on prelim is reasonable especially considering internal leaf of external walls are not yet plastered (mortar joints tend to be weakest points).
    What did your tester advise?
In my experience, getting to 2 or less shouldn't be impossible.

Cheers ..... tester said he was happy enough and that as you say given the inside leaf not being plastered, the result was OK - particularly my inside leaf ... the finishing of the mortar joints
I just wasn't sure where 3.7 was still a bit disappointing but reassured somewhat based on your comments.

My 1 other concerns was he said the top of all the sash windows wasn't completely air tight but i 'fear' this is just a reality i will have to live with given the type of window albeit that i will be pushing the window supplier to improve this once it comes to snagging (i held back a grand payment from him to ensure he does the snagging when i need it).
