So looking for a car at the moment, kinda lost in deciding what I want and haven't really had the time I'd like to go browsing :p

Ideally looking for something low(ish) mileage and as I'm a student I couldn't afford to run anything more than a 1.6L, and thats pushing it tbh! My budget is max €3500 (Thanks credit union! :D)

    What would you buy? :)

I was thinking of going to look at this as I've shared a 323 before for years and never had a bother on it, was nice to drive too, plus for the money I think its an ok looking car.

    It'd be a Mazda 3 for me.

That one you linked is a bit expensive for the mileage I reckon. Not a huge demand for 1.6 engine petrol's, so take your time and find a nice example.

You could go up a year, with less mileage and try and grab something like this for €3,200 cash if it checked out.

If you need to borrow the money why not get something cheaper for €2000 or less and have cheaper or shorter repayments. If you can't afford more than a 1.6 in tax and are a student then I doubt you have a regular income so you should consider it.

Take a look at the "Bangernomics" thread here, loads of good cars there, all for less than €2000, some for under €1000.

    Whats fun about that?

crashing it into a ditch would be fun

but if im gonna be the op sitting in stop go traffic I would definitely be wanting an auto box

I wouldn't be keen and its automatic... boring :P

I have the loan sorted an all, I've a regular enough income, but its part time. I've worked out what I can afford, and I just don't want to pay any more tax than what a 1.6 would be :) I've been keeping an eye on the bangernomics thread alri, I'm a picky ****e tho :D

Someone b on boards told me to try automatic before and I ignored them. .... I sincerely regret that decision.

if my first car (2007 civic) was auto I would still have it.

Really miss that car. .. sold to someone else already a few weeks ago

Get the hatchback if you're going for the Mazda 3.

Far more practical for weekend trips.

Think the saloon looks much nicer.

How about this as a fun option. They are also practical with a big boot and mpg in the high thirties. This particular one looks to be very well looked after too. It's also way under your budget :)

Th OP is a student on a budget.

He'd be mad to buy a 1998 Corolla coupe, as against a 04/05 Mazda 3. 7 years newer, parts more available, lower insurance, more reliable, economical etc.

    I'm a student, I own one.

Parts are readily available and cheap, It is very reliable and high thirties mpg wise is hardly uneconomical (I get between 36 and 41 mpg).

As for the age, If you are a number plate snob so be it.

    A number plate snob? Wtf?

That car is 7 years older than what the OP is currently looking at. That Toyota is 15 years old.

The OP did not mention anything about wanting a car of any age so I assumed that that car would be a possible candidate.
The trueno will also probable depreciate less and costs less to buy than the other cars posted. I would also hazard a guess that the tureno is in better condition than a lot of the cars that are 7 years younger and is clearly owned by an enthusiast. Obviously I can't say that for definite as I have seen none of the cars in person.

Fair enough. If it were me I'd be buying a much newer Mazda 3/Focus etc. I guess we've all different tastes/preferences.
