    Hello,

I have a full Canadian driving license and 7 years no claim canadian bonuse points. I came to Ireland 4 months ago.

I am getting hard time getting good insurance quote on Irish Learner licence. Insurance companies are not considering my Canadian Experience.

Cheapest quote i m getting is 1000 -1200 euros for third party,

Can someone guide me to get a descent Auto insurance quote on 1.4 L 2004 car

Ive looked at this before too. I have a full South African license which is valid in Ireland and can be exchanged for a full Irish license. But insurance companies wont count my 8-9 years driving experience in South Africa. I also have a letter from my previous insurance company in South Africa stating I have 4 years no claim bonus with them, but in Ireland they will only accept no claims bonuses from other insurance companies in Ireland and UK.

So in short, everything is reset. Nothing you did before moving to Ireland has any meaning to insurance companies.

Very optimistic. What age are you?

I think you are being very optimistic to expect to get quotes much below what you have been given I'm afraid. It's a bit ridiculous that your prior experience counts for nothing but as far as insurers are concerned you are a learner with no experience, and as such €1000 isn't actually a bad price.

Pass the test and it should come down a bit from those prices.

Also many companies wont quote you with a non Eu licence. Will really limit the options

Far too optimistic. When I had my 1.4 almera with 3 years NCB and a full license I was paying ~800.

I'm guessing that the OP's figures of €600 to €650 is based on what they were paying back in Canada which unfortunately has no bearing on what it would cost over here.

I suggest ringing as many insurance companies and insurance brokers as possible.
