Looking for a cycling club for spins during the week/weekend. Lucan and Swords seem to cater for experienced lads, more intermediate myself only out for a few spins so far this year around the 80 to 90 k mark. Any ideas lads of good club for this?

I know nothing about Lucan, but Swords have groups catering for all levels.
There's a group leaves the Lord Mayor's in Swords for a 70-80km spin with coffee stop. If enough show up they split the group and give people the option of taking it even handier in the lantern rouge group. Max average would be around 25km/h.
Similar Sunday, but leaves at 10am.

Lucan has beginner (50–60km @~26kmph moving - not including coffee stop :-)) sportif (80-90 @27), intermediate (80-90 @29) and advanced (100+ @31) all (depending on numbers) leaving the shop in Lucan village at 0930 on Saturday mornings.
New people welcome all the time, just give jimmy a shout in the shop to get acquainted.

Plenty of blokes in Swords who haven't got a clue. Sure I'm one of 'em.

Dublin Wheelers also has a number of spins that go out on a Saturday morning, from beginner to touring to racing. They leave from Santry at 9.30.

Pick a club who's training routes go nearest your door. big difference between lucan and swords distance wise. i think most clubs will have a level that will suit you. If your doing 90k spins you should have no problem with intermediate groups. Just joined Swords myself. Nice club, good people. Don't be put off by the Swords CC hooligans and riff raff who post on here ;-)

Before I hook up with a bunch on Saturday I would be interested in knowing what is the average distance and speed for amateur Saturday group cycles. I have just started cycling & interested in joining a Saturday group to push me on but worried I will be to unfit & slow at the moment

Same here usually do 50-100k 2-3 times a week wouldn't mind getting involved with a club but bit worried I'd be out of my depth. Lucan would be handy enough for me so might look into that, would like to bring my cycling on with some group riding
