Bit of a strange request but I am wondering if anyone here can help, someone dumped a load of rubbish behind my house today and among it was a Sky+HD box with a label, two bar codes and a transaction date. Also printed on the label was a name, first name, surname and third name (?) "Sierra". I am wondering from anyone who has got a sky box recently if their name was on it or maybe it is the sales guy. If it is his name it will make him easier to track down and "return" his rubblish.

Sorry it's a bit off topic.

The number on the sierra sticker is a job reference number that is unique to the owner and sky or sierra could get the customers details in a matter of seconds but I doubt that either company will help you. Although when I was working for sky years ago the litter warden did trace a customer through sky after some illegal dumping so maybe you should report it to the local council.

The Sierra crowd install the dishes and cable and set up the box for the new customers it be worth a call to them and see and also as said get onto the council take photo and date of when dumped also don't move the stuff until they see it.

You could also try Sky on there live chat just to see also maybe the cops would be able to find out who owns it.

It's easy for Sky to track the skyboxes via the serial numbers, thing is due to customer confidentiality they might not tell you who owns it but if the council want to take somebody to court for dumping then that's another matter.

If the box works though, you've just gotten a free HD box.

Thanks I gave all the details to the Litter Warden today, registration, name etc. He will follow up, with Sky if necessary.
