Many a time I cursed those trains as they held up traffic on my way across they city.
I also remember the occasion when a guy wrote off a brand new Cortina when he crashed into the train at the location in photo2, having just collected it from the Ford factory 10mins. earlier.

Do you live in Cork Tina? or

only closed in the seventies I think, long after the West Cork went. You can still see the curved alley where it came through to the bridges from Kent, the bridges survive of course and the gateway into the yard next the Albert Quay station. Also alongside the former Albert ROAD narrow guage station (which survives) you can see a curved alley where a siding ran out to the quays. there were a couple of sidings off the Cork City Rly proper on to the quays also.

Only Mark 3 Cortinas, or other types?

Some people shoe-horn V8s into Mark 3 coupé Cortinas.

PS. Alas for the Cork City Railway.

You burn a lot of oil with plenty of blue smoke just like my Father's MK2 1600E, its still in the garage in Sligo, when its started up about twice a year it reminds me of the Corktina on boards.

In one of the lanes, the one behind Carey's Tool Hire in the former station building, the tarmac is peeling off to reveal the cobbles that still have the tramway tracks in place. The presumably continue under the road surface and reemerge at kennedy quay.
There's a few fine sets of points down there still. I wonder would it be a big job to get kennedy quay back in use for freight. Much of the track is still in good nick.

Good zombie thread. I seem to remember that Corktina got involved with a crowd who thought they were going to reopen the Tralee/Blennerville railway and quit here about the same time. Pity as he was quite entertaining.
