Possible flooded engine?? help needed!!!

    Right long time lurker and now in need of advice!

    Clio mk 2 1.1 was was having idol problems 4 months ago ( intermittent cutting out) so decided to clean the throttle body on advice of mechanic friend. Done dusted fixed all probs, so problems occured again so I said Ill clean it again...... jump forward to right now followed exact same procedure as last time but now when I tried to turn it back over , it wont catch, I open her back up and the air box is flooded with fuel :eek: now I can see when I prime the fuel sys that its not coming back to the return , any ideas on whats happening ?? I'm flumoxed!

    all help mucho apreciated

    Check and clean the MAF/MAP, and upstream Lambda sensor. Chances are a 2001 Renault is OBD-II compliant - try to get your hands on a codescanner and read any DTCs that may be hanging around.

    Aye. Remove the excess fuel from the air intake, mind.

    That did the trick , mind you took a while to run steady but thanks for the help!

    Good. That sort of thing is common enough - duff readings from the airflow sensors cause the ECU to fire the injectors way too much despite a small throttle opening. Give it a good booting to heat up the cat. A new set of plugs would be no harm either.
