IE online ticket: ok to break outward journey?

Just a question: say I buy an online ticket a few weeks in advance, for Ballyhaunis-Tullamore return, outward on Sat, return the following day.

Is it ok to get off the train in Athlone, spend a few hours there, and then get back on a later train to Tullamore?

Section 8 of the Conditions of Travel seem to suggest I'll be ok????

Its not a normal ticket, so you can't break the journey you can only travel on the trains as indicated on the reservation

The full fare is 33.50 open return, according to here:

The online fare is coming up as:

15 + some services at 15 + 2 fee = 32

So I may as well buy the normal ticket for the flexibilty of breaking the outward journey?
