Jury duty - questions

First, on the form supplied with my summons there's a section called:

    Persons Excusable as of Right

"The head of principal teacher of college university..., whole time studentsand any member of teaching staff"

If I'm being summoned in June, does that mean being a student isn't an excuse?

Also, on the subject of being payed by your employer:
I work part time, different days in the week but usually between 10-20 hours. How does that work out for me? If the employer is obligated to pay the employee for days missed due to jury duty, mine could just claim I was never going to be rostered for those days in the first place.
I could just wait until the roster is drawn up but I'd rather not as we need to give 2 weeks notice for absences and the roster is only drawn up a week in advance.

    Help?

EDIT: One more thing, what kind of cases are heard in circuit court?

Typically it will be crimes like burglary, robbery or serious assaults but not the top drawer stuff like murder or rape which are heard in the Central Criminal Court.

I'm self employed and under the terms of the existing contract schedule between my (Ltd) company and my sole customer, I can only bill for services provided i.e., I cannot invoice for sick or any other days off.

As this is my only source of income is this sufficient to be excused from Jury Duty and if so what kind of documentation would I need to return to County Registrar to support this?

The case is in the CCC so it could be prolonged.
