    Hi,

Am thinking of ordering a basic but great value 6 piece patio set for UK £55 from ASDA NI.

Can anyone tell me if I'll have to pay excise duty as it's over threshold.

Has anyone ordered from them before.

    Thanks.

Once a sale is within the EU there no duty.

No you won't have to pay duty, but odds are Asda won't deliver to a Irish address. You'll likely have to use a service like parcelmotel and then collect it from the parcelmotel depot (if they'll take an item that big)

If it's under 35Kgs and it can't fit in the locker, it'll go to a depot.

See here. If it's over 35Kgs you'll have to pay more.

No VAT or duty in your case as said. But since you bring up the term excise duty (applicable to alcohol & perfume etc) then these types of goods are actually liable within the EU.

Just incase somebody finds this thread searching about excise duty.

People were getting beer from NI supermarkets delivered down here, so were liable.
