    Hi folks.
Don't know if I'm in the right place but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good stop off point to break up our journey from Galway to rosslare?
We are travelling with two smallies
(under 3) so they will need to stretch the legs for a half hour or so and refuel.
It would need to be about half way so Portlaois area would be the best.
    Thanks!

Depends on what you and your little crew need: I'm quite fond of the Bridge House in Tullamore myself. :)

Midway at Portlaoise has a heap of parking and a large foodhall with a bit of everything.
We also have 2 under 3 and found it grand the few times we needed a break going from Cavan-Cork abeit theres no play area or play corner there. If you just need a stop to eat and change nappies then its spot on.

Theres no petrol there but there is just down the road nearer Portlaoise.

If you are going by Dublin (M50), then theres an official NRA stop there near Maynooth which has an indoor and outdoor playground and might be a better option if you really want the small ones to let off some energy.

There is a nice looking playground in Portlaoise near the railway station. Don't know the directions but it is in a park on the Dublin side of Portlaoise station. Clearly visible from the train.

Might be nice to let them have a little run around and climb to tire them out a bit!

That's beside the leisure centre, little bit tricky to get to from the M7 but looks nice.

Thanks for that folks. We will be towing a caravan so space to park is essential. A play area would be great. Means they can burn some energy. Then food before we can continue on. We have an overnight stop in Rosslare before we get on the ferry so its not to bad.

they'd be coming from Tullamore direction so not really out of the way at all.
It looks to be a fine facility and is a free public playground

they also have a cafe open from 9-5 so if all you need is a coffee and a sambo then probably spot on

could visit this place myself at some stage, but not any time soon as I was home 7 times last year so giving Ireland a break for a while!
