Ok work are looking to provide me with a Car Van. I am currently driving a 05 Golf Car. I have more or less a choice of whatever Car Van I want. What would you go for and why? The short list is:

    Toyota Auris Van
    Volkswagen Golf Van
    Hyundai i30 van
    Ford Focus Van
    Kia Ceed Van

    Thanks for your help.

Is assume the golf would be mk6, the focus is an estate? The auris 1.4 is a 5 door with blacked out windows.

I'd have the i30 van as it looks nicest and won't be boggo spec.

Scrap that. They seem to have fitted the 1.4 diesel from the rio... Same in the pro ceed.

    Focus or golf so.

    Focus or golf so.

Would the 90bhp 1.4 i30 be underpowered? The i30 was my initial favourite.

Far as I know the 1.6 in the i30 feels slower than the 1.6 in the old model, so I'd guess the 1.4 wouldn't be great. Haven't driven it (drove it in the rio and it was fine) so I couldn't say.

The i30 comes in a nice looking estate van. Saw the i30 van for the first time the other day and thought it look good.
The auris is pretty boring on the inside.

Would be the Golf for me here. I like the MK6 ones.

The new focus has one of the best cockpits around at the moment and since that's where you will spend the time, I'd go for that.

The Golf Van is the MK6. Last time I checked there were only a couple available. If it's not in the country already, then you can't have it as production has stopped.

The new Auris is much nicer to drive than the old one. Haven't seen the new van version yet, and current stock is only the Aura (higher specification). Price is a little on the high side due to this. Old Auris van went like hot cakes as they were so cheap. 1.4d is fine around town, but really struggled to get up to motorway speed.

Hyundai iPro (i30 3dr hatch van) looks to be a decent van. Shame it didn't come with the alloys that were in the promo shots Hyundai sent around, but it's got the highest standard specification of all of them. Hyundai dropped us an i30 1.4d for a week - I drove it from the front of the building in to the garage, parked it for the week, and drove it back round the front when they came to pick it up. Performance on the 60 yards or so I drove it was adequate.

Didn't realise they were still doing the C'eed van, but it's on the last Kia price list I got. €21,795 for the TX model is pricing itself out of the competition. Has the 1.6d engine though which is a cracker - presume it's the 5 door hatch with blacked out rear windows.

Haven't seen a new Focus van. Probably the best one to drive, but not great value for money.

If it were me, I'd test drive an i30 3dr Van (seems to be plenty around) and if the engine gives passable performance, I'd go for that. Highest level of standard kit, and lowest retail price so you'd be paying feck all BIK (if you are even declared for it). Most likely the cheapest to your company too, so see if you could push them for a set of dealer fit alloys to make it look a bit better.

You'd look better in one of these yokes.

Thanks for this information, your a fountain of knowledge.

The new Auris vans are currently being converted and will be available in the next few weeks. They are based on the Luna model and will have 5 doors - unsure on this! They are however very competitively priced.

The Hyundai i30 iPro van certainly looks good and has a good spec. As you said there is plenty around so I will try and get a test drive in one.

The Focus Van are in Cork and will be available later this week. They are all Edge spec and also have 5 doors.

The Golf Van is no longer being produced so only 7 or 8 remain in the country all of which are Pre Registered in dealers. This is based on the 90 bhp engine and is a little dead.

Sorry you are correct. The Auris Van is an Aura and not a Luna.

What will you actually use the van for? Will you be carrying much stuff in the back?

No, a couple of boxes every so often. Not much more. Load capacity or number of doors won't be an issue.
